What Makes a Spritz...a Spritz?

January 31, 2019

Spritz a cool, cool summer. With refreshing bubbles, bright hues and a bittersweet  flavor profile, there's a reason you'll be seeing #spritzlife all over Instagram this summer. But what exactly makes a spritz...a spritz?

According to Spritz author Talia Baiocchi, the traditional recipe is:

  • 3 parts prosecco + 2 parts bitter liqueur + 1 part soda

Or, according to the flexible minds at Bon Appetit:

  • base + bubbles + more bubbles + garnish

Does a spritz have to be alcoholic? Nope! Many bartenders—and baristas—have looked to the spritz as inspiration for summer mocktails. In fact, our own spritz syrups are nonalcoholic—so if you want booze, add sparkling wine. If you don't, add seltzer. Or add a splash of both!

Most importantly, #ShowYourSpritz on Instagram for the chance to be featured on @wandpdesign
