One of our favorite parts of summer is hosting an al fresco dinner in Montauk, New York, for a group of friends. The dinner is set up in a field near Ditch Plains beach, and folks trickle in after extended sun and surf sessions for a long evening of food and drinks. In order to enjoy the slow summer evening with them, we try to plan ahead, shopping the local farmers’ markets for the key ingredients and prepping as much in advance as we can. North Fork farms provide the makings for fresh market crudités to kick off the meal, and nearby docks supply the diver scallops. We finish off with an à la mode peach and blueberry cobbler before we make our way to the beach for a late night bonfire.
