Where there's smoke...we'll add fire. This eye-catching recipe combines Vida Mezcal and Boylan Heritage Tonic in a simple, but surprisingly complex cocktail. The mezcal already brings smokey flavor, but we like adding a little showmanship with a flamed strip of grapefruit zest. The final touch is a honey-sea salt rim, to balance out all that fire and brimstone.

Makes one cocktail

  1. Rim a rocks glass with honey and sea salt. Fill with crushed ice.
  2. Combine the mezcal and Boylan Heritage Tonic in the glass.
  3. Flame the grapefruit zest over the surface of the cocktail and garnish with the flamed zest.
