The Lilac Bloom

October 08, 2015

We created this spring cocktail with Mother's Day in mind. We love our parents—and especially moms!—because they do so much for us without expecting anything in return. They are always there when we need them the most, know exactly what to say, and are pretty much always right (though we don’t admit that very often.)

So, this Mother’s Day—or anytime you want to treat mom!—mix her this fresh and floral drink. The base recipe actually doesn't include alcohol, but if Mom wants to throw a shot of vodka in there, we won't tell anyone.

The Lilac Bloom
Makes Two Drinks

  • 12 oz (1.5 cups) spring water
  • 4 slices fresh ginger
  • 4 cubes cane sugar
  • 1 shot fresh lemon juice
  • 1 large bunch spring lilac blossoms
  1. Add the ginger slices, cane sugar cubes and lemon juice to The Mason Shaker.
  2. Muddle the ingredients in the bottom of the shaker until thoroughly crushed and the sugar has mostly dissolved.
  3. Add spring water and ice to just above the level of the liquid and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
  4. Strain mixture into Collins glasses containing layers of large cubes of ice and lilac blossoms.
