The White Russian cocktail is a derivation of the Black Russian. Created in the 1940s, the Black Russian was first shaken up in Brussels where the American ambassador to Luxembourg was staying. The cocktail is a simple mixture of Russian vodka and Kahlúa. Fast forward 20 years, and cream joined the mix to create the White Russian.
The cocktail gained fame in the 1998 cult classic film The Big Lebowski. Here, we channel Jeff Bridges' "The Dude" by making a completely homemade version of the classic cocktail, using Coffee Liqueur and half-and-half.
