The Cel-Ray Spring Tonic
Spring has officially arrived, and we're celebrating the best way we know how -- with a cocktail!
Dr. Brown's celery-flavored Cel-Ray soda is our top choice to accompany an old-school deli sandwich in New York City. Here, we recreate the essence of the soda with fresh ingredients, including favor-packed celery leaves.
Cheers to the return of Spring!
The Cel-Ray Spring Tonic
makes two cocktails
2 shots vodka (We like Tito's)
1 large sprig of celery leaves (plus 2 small sprigs to garnish)
6 slices of cucumber (plus 2 to garnish)
2 slices of lime (plus 2 to garnish)
1/2 shot fresh lime juice
Ginger ale (We like Boylan's)
1) Add the celery leaves, cucumber, and lime slices to the shaker.
2) Muddle the ingredients in the bottom of the shaker until fragrant and thoroughly crushed. Add the vodka and lime juice to the shaker.
3) Add ice to above the level of the liquid and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
4) Strain mixture into Collins glasses containing large cubes of ice and top with ginger ale. Garnish with remaining celery leaves, cucumber, and lime.
